Esxence 2014: stars rain (4)

After the shades of pink and green, let's discover other trendy colours of the olfactory palette presented at Esxence. It's yellow's turn with its energy spurting from the most fragrant peels: bergamot, lemon, lime and other citrusses as cheerful in the morning as refreshing in the summer heated afternoons. Don't call them colonies though, as for structure, intensity and lasting power they go far beyond the chill of a fresh lemonade.

Jul et Mad

Sticking with their love story that inspired the first three creations of the brand, after New York, Paris and Venice, Julien and Madalina fly straight to Aix en Provence where Julien is born and where they got married. Aqua Sextius, roman name of the ancient provencal capital, is a thirst-quenching juice that Cécile Zarokian shaked with a good dose of superchilling lime and mint. Slight floral touches warm a bit the fragrance speaking of crisp clean linen on the skin, of lazy sundays reading through a villa's oleanders or of the walks en deux downtown, with fountains and boulevards reeking of story and sunburned foliage. Following the journey's theme, they also created Le Compagnon, a 20ml travel spray with an original design based on the circle-square brand logo.

Orto Parisi

Over a too much monolitic and monotone yard with jarring nasomattesque echoes, fortunately the sunny essence of Bergamask

shines. Alessandro Gualtieri tries to push himself beyond the provocation to find a new language in the hesperidic dimension and, yet sticking also visually with the paradigm of his mad nose (wooden cap, side placed label), strikes here for the richness of top quality calabrese bergamot balancing the icy cold aura of cashmeran. Despite the linear style, the thickness of pure perfume gives a new viscous soul to citrus joining the animal notes conjuring up heated bodies in a surreal painting, figures melting like oil on hot stones for a result without classic references, on the contrary dangerously sexy and urban.
